X-Mist was formed in March 2020 at the start of the Covid 19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, but this is not when the story began.
Many years prior to this, David Muirhead, one of the current directors, was running a successful carpet cleaning business, but he was tired of losing jobs because the wet carpets left behind after cleaning couldn't be used until they had dried.
He put his thinking cap on, and after some quite intensive investigative work, speaking to numerous chemical companies and the machinery manufacturers, came up with the carpet cleaning system that left carpets completely dry after treatment.
The next problem that he was faced with was raised by a hotel manager who had the issue of dealing with rooms that had been occupied by a customer who had been sick or had been smoking
X-Mist achieved BSEN 1276 and BSEN 1650 accreditation to confirm how effectively it dealt with bacteria
But X-Mist's full potential only became apparent at the start of the Covid 19 pandemic, when it was realised that the combination of the biocide and the alcohol content meant that it was highly effective against all the enveloped viruses, including coronavirus.
In June 2020, X-Mist was accredited with BSEN 14476 to confirm it kills 99.9998% of these germs.
It is now being used around the world in hotels, schools, offices, airports, coaches, commercial vehicles and homes.
